Fylde Coast Summer Ride - Sunday 28 July 2009
Starting at Lytham Windmill and using NCN Route 62 to St Annes, Blackpool, North Shore, Cleveleys and finishing at Fleetwood Ferry Terminal.
The ride will use a mostly traffic-free route and take in the new section to Fleetwood that will be officially opened on this day.
The route to Fleetwood is approximately 20 miles on flat terrain. We plan to have pick up points at St Annes Pier, Blackpool Tower, Bispham (Red Bank Rd) and Cleveleys (cinema). There will be a return leg with departure times organised on the day (depending on what people want to do when we arrive in Fleetwood. The ride will return along the same route to Lytham making this a 40 mile round trip.
Bring food, drink and a decent set of legs - 40 miles is not for complete cyling novices!
More details and start time to be announced her and through the local media nearer the time.
This is the web-portal for Lytham St Annes Cycle Campaign.
We are a small group which has been working hard to get the best facilities for Cyclists in the Fylde area for around 18 years.
We work very closely with Sustrans http://www.sustrans.org.uk/, Fylde Borough Council and Lancashire County Council.
The Group meets monthly but is in constant communication between meetings to ensure that things get done.
We are a very small group run by volunteers (most of which have busy working lives). For this reason we ask that any questions or suggestions that you may wish to put to the group be carefully considered - ie might a quicker and/or more satisfcatory response be sought from Sustrans or relevant Council or even the CTC (Cyclists Touring Club)? If you think not then please post a comment on here and we will try to help.
We will soon post a 'potted' history of the Lytham St Annes Cycle Group's palmares of acheivements during our existence. Along with this a list of useful web links will also be posted that may be of interest or use to you.
